It is expected that students undertake units of course work each semester, and earn grades of B or better in all courses.
Program staff will work closely with each student through individual meetings and participation in the Dental Colloquium to address all aspects of the application process.
This includes 1 assisting with the completion of the primary application; 2 assisting with the development of a disadvantaged statement and a personal statement that clearly present the challenges overcome by the student as well as other personal strengths; 3 advising each student in the selection of dental schools where the expectation for successful application is most likely; 4 assisting with the development of a strong secondary application; and 5 enhancement of interview skills.
The academic year component will be held at SFSU during regular fall and spring semesters, with participants responsible for finding their own housing. A 5-week break occurs between semesters, from mid-December to late-January.

The Post-Bac Programs are highly structured and intended for students that have already earned a bachelor's degree and wish to apply to health professional schools. Admission requires a B.A., B.S.
or B.F.A. from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum GPA of for the bachelor's degree, or for the last 60 semester-units or. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Writing comprises 8 courses for a minimum of 16 semester units ( hours of instruction), which includes 3 required courses and 5 restricted electives selected from 2 categories: literature (2 courses) and writing workshops (3 courses).
